GoPro Fusion Review
Fusion is the exception to the rule due to the following: 1 Fusion captures content in 5K and creates stunning 360 videos. It rendered out the project in about 2 hours, a good hour and a half faster than the top-end configuration of the 2017 Retina iMac. The video files take a long time to convert using the GoPro app, for use in editing in Adobe Premiere but once in Premiere you can do cool stuff with the video and output a beautiful 360 video ready for YouTube or elsewhere. Or you can hold down the mode button to power on and then record when it suits your moment. It can go shot for shot with Final Cut Pro, Windows Movie Maker, and all of the other big names in the video editing world. Heck, this review was supposed to be up about 12 hours earlier, but I kept getting crashes in the app for the footage I needed to include. Is GoPro hedging its bets? Stabilization is very important when shooting 360 video as without it, the resulting footage is uncomfortable to watch.

Not a word about the possibility of flashing in the official instructions. Wind noise is cancelled out well, and things like seat belt buckles, car doors, and engine sounds were all clean and crisp. The GoPro Hero6 Black, on the other hand, delivers much higher quality video in standard rectangular formats as well as slow-motion effects unavailable on the Fusion. Scuba is most definitely out, which is my main interest in an underwater camera. This will render mp4 files that are much smaller, easier to handle and most importantly faster to render. In an ideal world GoPro would enable both, so in cases where you wanted higher quality you could leverage it, but for cases that were less important you could save the processing time. GoPro has said it is continuing to work on improving the app experience, so hopefully OverCapture will gain more capabilities down the road.

Creating videos with the Fusion requires additional steps, such as rendering individual 180-degree video clips into the final 360-degree format see above. There is also an OverCapture option in Fusion Studio. For now, Fusion's over-capture videos are clean and colourful, and feature some great image stabilisation. I take it everywhere and use it far more than the Hero6. Also unlike most 360° cameras, Fusion has a ton of sensors, beefed-up audio, and voice control. Compatible with GoPro mounting system.

If this process could be simplified, I don't think any 360 cameras can compete. I have it connected to my computer. The Nikon and Garmin are notorious for getting turned on in a bag and recording countless minutes of black, filling your card and wearing down the battery. If you want to capture detail in something relatively far away, forget about it. However, you can just use the in-camera controls while out and about, and it's consistently possible to produce some excellent footage with the Fusion.

A lot of 360 cameras use the same optics as a cheap webcam, which is why the video can look very bad. While there is still some lack of sharpness compared to a normal flat video, the 5. It features a gorgeous, intuitive layout that puts your video at center stage. Imagine never having to worry about framing your subject…ever. So did the camera itself, with two major bones of contention; the app and the GoPro Fusion Studio software. Premiere Pro will smoothly animate the motion from start to finish. You won't see a video-editing program that offers this much while still being incredibly easy to use very often. This small screen allows you to see what settings you have, and tweak them. A toughly made, extensively featured, and expensively priced gadget, the Fusion nevertheless could turn out to be a one-off.
